Flyers Weekend Update 20/09/2014

It's derby day in Kirkcaldy:

Tickets are no longer on sale at the rink but you will be able to buy online at fifeflyers.co.uk, gates open at 17:15 so get their early to avoid disappointment if you can't get online.

The good guys of Kingdom FM are currently broadcasting live from the Fife Ice Arena:

This is not the only broadcaster that will be joining the Fife faithful this weekend with Aaron Murphy (@murphonice) and the Premier Sports crew providing the live coverage of the game. As with the last time they visited Aaron will joined in the studio with a Fife legend:

I'm delighted that Kingy is back in the studio, was excellent last time and is an all-time great for the club. He was ranked #5 (and highest amongst Brits) in list of favourite Flyers here's what I had to say about him:

"5) Forward: Steven King

Over 650 games, over 250 goals and an assist total in excess of 670! Three remarkable reasons why Kingy is on this list. A simply wonderful competitor who is also one of the most humble men going. Spurned the approaches of other teams for long term job prospects and his local team. Brief cameo on Premier Sports this year hints that he could be adding broadcaster to his list of talents very soon, hopefully he makes a return to our screens next season."

Flyers TV had an interview with the magic man Ned Lukacevic:
Hopefully Ned can channel the "Moves like Jagr" and propel the Gold, White and Blue to a maiden win this season. We all remember how much Ned enjoyed his last win against Dundee:

At this point, I'd like to wish Flyers TV's Ross Cunningham the very best in his new role with St Johnstone. I'm sure all would agree that the work he has done online and in the community has been invaluable for the profile of the club. The crowds in excess of 3,000 at the tailend of the season are no coincidence!

While Ned is optmisitic for a win this weekend, however, as Todd Dutiaume told the Fife Free Press' Matthew Elder, he expects more from the team following their 8-1 defeat to Sheffield last Sunday:

Todd and Ned also discussed the likelihood that Flyers will be without Matt Reber and Kyle Horne, massive losses for both offence and defense but a strong performance from all involved could still see the 4 point weekend that the fans crave.

Around the League

The EIHL have reduced Riley Emmerson's ban:
This is something that has been welcomed by all hockey fans, but may be too little, too late for @capsbanterarmy:

Away from the EIHL, former Edinburgh, Belfast and Sheffield coach Doug Christiansen has gotten a new role in the USA:
This sounds like a great opportunity and I'm sure all fans of the EIHL will wish him the best!
